Philanthropy and Major Gifts

At the Layton Vision Foundation, we believe that the generosity of individuals and families has the power to create lasting change. We are continually inspired by those who choose to share their passion for philanthropy with their loved ones—bringing families together while also educating and inspiring future generations.

We are here to support those who share our vision of a world free from vision loss and blindness. Through bespoke giving opportunities, donors can contribute to the discovery of new treatments and cures for eye disease.

Private Ancillary Funds

Many of our supporters, whether individuals or families, work with private wealth advisers, accountants, and lawyers to guide their philanthropic decisions.

At the Layton Vision Foundation, we have robust systems in place to ensure a seamless experience between you, your advisers, and our team. This includes timely receipting, acknowledgment, and transparent reporting on all gifts received from private foundations and sub-funds.

What is a private ancillary fund?
A PAF is a tax-effective charitable trust used to manage and distribute funds to eligible causes and charities. Establishing and maintaining a PAF does involve setup and ongoing administrative costs, so we recommend seeking independent advice from your accountant or adviser.

What is a sub-fund?

A sub-fund—also known as a “giving account”—sits within a larger public ancillary fund. Donors receive a tax deduction when contributing to their account and can recommend how the funds are distributed annually.

Did you know you can create a sub-fund with the Layton Vision Foundation? We manage all administration, investment, and governance, so you can feel confident that your philanthropic contributions are supporting the long-term sustainability of our world-leading eye research.

Trusts and Foundations

Partnerships with trusts and foundations are vital to our ability to fund the groundbreaking work of our researchers. Their generous support allows us to operate more efficiently and to drive meaningful progress toward our mission of improving the eye health of Australians.

Multi-year grants are especially impactful, particularly when directed towards researcher salaries. This funding security empowers our leading scientists to focus on long-term breakthroughs that have the potential to transform lives.
